Courage Productions & needtheater, both 501(c)(3) non-profits, are producing an exciting and epic theater project in the historic heart of Downtown Los Angeles.
The Imaginary Life of the Street Sweeper August G. is a riveting theatrical play written by Armand Gatti, one of France’s most daring authors. It tells the story of an entire neighborhood in poverty with, at its center, a garbage man whose purpose in life is to bring hope and equality to the poor. The cast will represent the diversity of Los Angeles, where multiethnic backgrounds and a fertile exchange of ideas provide the foundation for an uncommon theatrical experience.
This powerful work is sure to contribute to the way audiences perceive the old center of Downtown. It is befitting that this play (about a garbage man on the cusp of poverty and with dreams of a grand world) will be staged in a neighborhood that is itself undergoing a transformation from skid row to the cultural heartbeat of Los Angeles.
Our team is currently developing a fund drive to make this project possible. If you are interested in participating in or contributing to this drive, please contact us. If you would like to support this project with a tax-deductible donation, please make checks to:
